Chargers Form Stadium Subcommittee with City of Chula Vista

CHARGERS STADIUM SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING
Deputy Mayor John McCann & Councilmember Steve Castaneda Launch Effort to Keep Chargers Football Team in San Diego County
Chula Vista, CA . Deputy Mayor John McCann and Councilmember Steve Castaneda announce a meeting of the Chula Vista City Council Chargers Stadium Subcommittee on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 6pm. The Subcommittee, chaired by Deputy Mayor John McCann, will hold session in the Council Chambers on June 8 to give an update on the City.s effort to keep the Chargers NFL team in San Diego County. The Subcommittee will review progress and determine the next steps towards constructing a stadium on the Chula Vista bayfront and will work with Chargers officials and other agencies to move that process forward.

Deputy Mayor John McCann states, "It is my desire and the desire of many of my fellow citizens to make sure the Chargers stay in San Diego County. I believe that this Subcommittee meeting will be a big step forward in making that a reality and I.m excited about the possibility of creating hundreds of new jobs as we move this stadium plan forward."

Councilmember Castaneda notes, "This could be an exciting addition to our City. I invite all interested residents to share ideas with us at this inaugural meeting of the Chargers Subcommittee. We will use this opportunity to explore the possibility of welcoming the Chargers to our community.

In addition, Deputy Mayor McCann will be available before the subcommittee meeting to answer uestions from the media. Deputy Mayor McCann invites all interested media personnel to contact his office to schedule interviews beginning at 5:15pm.

The Subcommittee meeting will be Monday, June 8 at 6pm in Chula Vista City Hall's Council
